LTHC Men’s 2nd XI 3 vs Harborne Men’s 2nd XI 1

MRHA T1 – Midlands 2

Saturday 3rd November 2018

After a tough loss to take in their last outing, Town looked to get back to winning ways against Harborne. The game started frantically with lots of turnovers of possession, Town clearly missing some experienced men across the pitch. After an even first 15 minutes, Town defender Jim Shepherd gifted the ball from a 16 to the Harborne forward in a moment of madness, which was swiftly placed into the bottom corner. Town 1-0 down.

However, the response from Town was good as Shepherd’s partner in defence, Jack Thomas started to take the 16’s. After many aerials were launched in the channels, Town started to make chances and were soon level after some fantastic work by Mike White who smashed the ball home, 1-1.

Two minutes later and Town were in front after some intricate play in and around the circle, again involving Mike White which allowed Jack Drury to slot home his first goal of the season. Town managed to close out the rest of the half to go into the break 2-1 up.

Town started the second half more intensely than Harborne, just as coach Adam Lamb demanded and were rewarded after a scramble in the circle. The ball fell to Dave Henderson, no one is sure whether it was on his reverse when he picked up the ball but there was no way he was striking the ball on his open side. He duly rifled the ball in the net to put Town 3-1 ahead.

The last 15 minutes saw both teams tire with the game turning into a rather scrappy affair, but Town held on for a 3-1 win to move into a stronger position in the league table. Next week sees a game with promotion in mind as Town face a big challenge away at Bridgnorth.
