LTHC Men’s 3rd XI 0 at Derwent Men’s 1st XI 1
MRHA T2 – East Midlands 1
Saturday 17th November 2018
Loughborough Town 3rd XI travelled away to Derwent looking for their first win of the season. Town started strong early on, creating a number of good chances against what appeared to be a shaky Derwent side. However, after a long spell of pressure Town found themselves on the back foot as Derwent hit with a swift counter attack to go 1-0 up. Derwent kept up their momentum by winning a number of short corners but Loughborough defended them well. Eventually breaking through, Loughborough found the back of the net to make it 1-1 but the equaliser was soon ruled out by the umpire.
Half time came and Loughborough once again set out strong winning 2 short corners within a few minutes, the first was defended strongly by Derwent but eventually a shot flew through to the back post and was cleared off the line by a defender. Towards the end of the game Town had most of the possession, transferring the ball up the pitch at pace. More chances fell to Loughborough which were not capitalised on and after a very tight game, Derwent held out to win the game 1-0.
After playing their best game this season (a full 70 minutes) the Men’s 3rd XI entertain local rivals Coalville Town Men’s 2nd XI.
