LTHC Men’s 3rd XI 4 vs Coalville Men’s 2nd XI 1

MRHA T2 – East Midlands 1

Saturday 24th November 2018

Loughborough Men’s 3rd XI were fired up for their fixture versus Coalville Men’s 2nd XI, looking for that first win of the season. Town started strong and a lot of pressure saw Coalville relentlessly defend their D. After a number of long corners, one was eventually upgraded to a short corner. Executing a tidy routine, Pete Hayes disguised a pass from the top of the D for injector Liam Brown to reverse stick deflect the ball into the roof of the net. Loughborough found themselves 1-0 up very early in the game.

Coalville looked to respond quickly, putting Loughborough on the back foot for a short time. However, a fast Loughborough counter attack gave Town the overload which was quickly finished off by Jono Griffith’s for a 2-0 lead.

Then before half time Town managed to finish off another two chances. First from yet another clean short corner routine where Hayes disguised a shot this time from the top of the D past the frozen Coalville keeper, 3-0.  Second, after a spell of good possession, Loughborough capitalised on a loose ball in the D with Ben McDermontt finishing clinically against his forma team to put Loughborough up by 4-0.

Minutes before half time Coalville replied back with a tap in from a short corner, to get back into the game at 4-1.

The second half was more of a balanced half which Coalville coming out a lot stronger. Whilst each side had opportunities both teams defences held firm and the match finished 4-1. Man of the match went to Tommy Ross for a workman like performance in midfield.

With their first win of the season this also took Loughborough of the bottom of the table. Next week Loughborough visit Northampton Saints 2nd XI looking to make it another win and end the first half of the season on a high.
