LTHC Men’s 2nd XI 2 vs Olton & West Warwick Men’s 2nd XI 2
MRHA T1 – Midlands 2
Saturday 24th November 2018
Following on from a fantastic performance last week against top of the league Stratford, Town welcomed 2nd spot Olton & West Warwick Men’s 2nd XI to the fortress, looking for a victory.
Town started the game in high tempo, with a view to take points off 2nd spot Olton, and asked many questions of their back line and GK. Town then conceded a unfortunate goal, though this only spurred Town on to up the pace of the game and push for the equaliser before half time. Who else was on hand to grab this but our very own England Master’s player Mike White, thus taking both sides in to half time level but with town having the upper hand.
Captain Lammy demanded more tempo and closer man to man marking. Olton came out for the second half and questioned Town’s defence of Hitesh, Jim, Connor and Sam. Finally Olton’s pressure paid off with a short corner, which was very well executed with pace and power beating Johnny as he just couldn’t close his legs in time.
Town pushed again for the equaliser winning a short corner which Chris Sibson stepping up and drag flicking in it to the Olton Goal. This giving Town a very well deserved point, but looking back on the game it’s a game that town could and should have won.
A very hard fought game, and a deserved draw. Man of the Match going to Hitesh due to some class defending and distribution. Town now have one more game left in 2018 against Rugby & East Warwickshire, but look forward to 2019 where they can continue to push for promotion.
