LTHC Men’s 1st XI 0 vs Leek Men’s 1st XI 1

MRHA T1 – Midlands Premier

Saturday 26th January 2019

After coming close in the previous weeks Town were looking to start their mid-season revival by hosting mid-table Leek 1st XI.  The game didn’t start the way Town wanted as a turnover in midfield lead to Leek counter attacking in numbers.  Leek made the extra players count passing around the Town defence, and slotted in a low hard shot pass keeper Dhutia.  Down 1-0 with the first 3 minutes of the game wasn’t the start Town wanted.  This was a wake up call for Town and good play from Goodwin and White up front started to create chances.  Some trickery from Hundal allowed White to receive a pin point pass, then with a clever square pass White found Curd in the D, but his shot agonisingly went wide, dening Town a deserved equaliser.

Town pressed for the equiliser in the 2nd half with the whole team putting in a shift, but not many clear cut scoring chances came.  Then in the last 5 minutes Town were handed an opportunity with a penalty flick.  However, it wasn’t to be Town’s game as the penalty flick wasn’t converted and the game remained 1-0 to Leek, which is how the game ended.

Whlist another defeat Town can take postives away that they did create chances and only conceded the 1 goal.  With a tough trip to Khalsa next week, Town will hope to improve on their 2-2 draw at home earlier in the season, and come home with a win and 3 points.
