The next East Midlands Hockey Umpiring Association [EMHUA] coaching evening has been confirmed for Tuesday 26th February 2019 with a 19:30 start at West Bridgford HC. This session is also open to any club representatives, or club umpires who wish to attend.

The agenda covers two key presentations:

  • Karl Strickland on the psychology of umpiring – As umpires we are coached to move in different ways, card for different things and all with the great intention of making us better. The reality is, without understanding the psychology of players but mainly ourselves none of that matters. It’s time to get to know our own umpiring and the players we are there to help.
  • David Elworthy (England Hockey [EH] Officiating Relationship Manager), with some video examples of decisions from games for an interactive session on how they are interpreted.

In addition there will be an EH update on the new rules, and how EH is preparing, alongside more generic EH updates.

This evening will be opened up to clubs and Midlands Young Umpiring [MYU] members, so please can you confirm attendance to Colin Anderson so numbers can be confirmed.
