LTHC Men’s 2nd XI 1 at Harborne Men’s 2nd XI 5
MRHA T1 – Midlands 2
Saturday 23rd February 2019
Town travelled to Harborne after a weeks break knowing that the fixture was highly important on their quest for promotion.
The game started very evenly with both teams enjoying extended spells of possession without creating any clear cut chances. Strong defending from the back five of Ottewell, Shepherd, Sign, Lamb and Patel cleared up any potential chances. Late into the first half, a weak shot from Harborne was not dealt with by Town and the chasing Loughborough goalkeeper Hie was deemed to ‘take out’ the Harborne forward, conceding a penalty stroke. This was duly dispatched and Town went in to half time 1-0 down.
After a strong team talk, Town came back out and started to build pressure on the Harborne side. Debutant, and man of the match, Jack Chiswell drove Town forward and aided in Town winning a short corner which was coolly dispatched into the bottom corner by Parry.
The tough game then took its toll on Town and a series of breakaways from Harborne saw them take over the game and score four second half goals. Lessons to be learnt for Town as they enter the final few games still in a promotion spot but with plenty of work to do. Next week they face a strong Bridgnorth 1st XI team at home, confident they can return to winning ways.
