LTHC Ladies 3rd XI 3 at Market Harborough Ladies 3rd XI 0

LRHA Ladies – Division 1

Saturday 9th March 2019

The Ladies 3rd XI travelled to Market Harborough for the third time this season, determined to extend their nine game unbeaten run to ten. The weather was shaping up to be a blustery one but the ladies didn’t let that affect their mindset going into the first half.

Town started strong, exerting their authority in the Harborough half of the pitch. Pressing hard and retaining possession around the D, it wasn’t long before Town were able to capitalise on Harborough’s scrappy defence. Sam Dalby found the backboard after Eleanor Grainge found space to deliver the ball across the face of goal. Continuing her excellent play, MOM, Grainge took the score to 2-0 with an excellent strike that broke through Harborough’s gaping defence.

After a run of short corners that Town were unable to convert, Dalby once again managed to defy the keeper in open play, taking Town’s half-time tally to three.

The second half proved tricky for town.  Going one on one with the Harborough’s keeper Maddie Herring couldn’t add to the scoring as the keeper came out strong and kicked the ball away, whilst Herring had to take evasive action and dive over the keeper.

Town continued to have the upper hand and spent most of the second half in the attacking half.  In a fight to score Dalby took a slight blow to the head by the keepers stick, who again managed to keep the ball out of the net.  Town had 2 disallowed goal one by Sarah Rose and the other denying Dalby her a hat-trick.

Throughout the game Harborough defence stayed strong whilst being ably supported by their keeper.  The game finished the same as half time at 3-0, but this result was enough to see Town go top of the league.  With three games to go, the top three teams all have a chance to claim the league title.
