LTHC Men’s 1st XI 4 vs West bridgford Men’s 1st XI 3
MRHA T1 – Midlands Premier
Saturday 5th October 2019
An overcast day and new bright blue new pitch welcomed the Men’s 1st XI for their first league game of the season vs West Bridgford.
Within the first 10 minutes, Town were up and running, a long ball from the back fed through to Mike White who finished smartly.
A penalty stroke was later awarded to the West Bridgford after a foul during their short corner routine, which was well converted with no chance for Town’s Keeper.
A bad foul in the D gave Town a chance to take the lead with a penalty stroke of their own. So up stepped debutant Rich Watson, however it wasn’t to be as he couldn’t convert and the game remained 1-1.
Lapses in concentration by Town lead to two corners and two goals for the away side, for them to take a 3-1 lead. However, another penalty was awarded to Town and this time was by Phil Sign. With Town back in the game Watson made up for his earlier miss and converted a penalty corner to bring the game to 3-3 and a tight finish.
Town pressed for the winning goal, and a fast reaction strike from John Harrison two minutes from time meant the 3 points went to Town. A good start, but plenty to improve in the season to come.
