LTHC Men’s 2nd XI 0 vs Harborne Men’s 2nd XI 3
MRHA T1 – Midlands 2
Saturday 5th October 2019
Coming off the back of winning the county cup Loughborough Town 2nd XI travelled to Harborne for the opening game of the season. Town’s team for the game contained a few new faces, a few regulars and an old Gavin Guest who came out of retirement to help out!
From the off the game was quite open with both teams trying to take control. A few half chances were created before Harborne won the first penalty corner of the game. With a slow drag flick Harborne found the back of the net beating both keeper Vishal Dhutia and postman Jim Shepherd. 1-0 to Harborne.
The first half continued with Town coming back into the game creating a few good chances but failing to take them. Most of Town’s good play came the hard working Dave Henderson who put in a great first half shift for the team.
With the team talks over Town knew what they had to do. As Town pushed forward it was Harborne who scored the first goal of the second half from a scramble in Town’s D. This seemed to bring youngsters Ollie Jepchott and Adam Carter into life both beating Harborne players for fun at times. Town’s forwards Ryan Hatley and Matt Parry both produce good saves from the Harborne’s keeper but failed to find the back of the net. As time was running out it was Harborne who finished off the game scoring once again from a penalty corner.
With the game lost Town now have to train harder and prepare for their next game at home against Leek.
