The first game of the Ladies 2nd XI league campaign started with an away game against Melton 1st XI. Town started the game strong with pressure put on the Melton defence. However after many attacks by the end of the first half, the game was still goalless.
After the half time break Town continued to struggle to overcome the Melton defence. The breakthrough finally came from a goal by Jo Hatley. Town continued to battle for the win, though a flick was awarded against them. However goalkeeper Jess Weatherall stood strong and made a stick save to keep the clean sheet. The second goal came from player of the match Beth Beale to secure the win, and take all 3 points.
