LTHC Men’s 2nd XI 2 at Coventry & North Warwick Men’s 1st XI 4
MRHA T1 – Midlands 2
Saturday 19th October 2019
Loughborough Town 2nd XI went away to Coventry & North Warwick 1st XI looking to build upon their win the previous week. It was a hard fought game with plenty of controversy, unfortunately resulting in Town going down 4-2 to the home side.
Early on Town reacted to a scrappy and undeserving Coventry goal, with quick passes through midfield articulated by captain Lamb. With Megicks in on goal the home side took drastic measures resulting in a penalty strike being awarded. Guest calmly slotted it away with his usual glove height flick, making it 1-1.
Town looked to take the lead with a well worked ball slotted into the circle by Adam Carter and subsequently turned into the opposition net, which was unfortunately disallowed. From this moment Town let the disallowed goal the better of them and conceded two quick goals. 3-1 to Coventry.
Town clawed one back from another penalty stroke awarded due to a Coventry body on the line at penalty corner. Again, Guest gingerly converted with the keeper deflecting the ball into his own roof. All hopes of bouncing back into the game were lost with the opposition converting a drag flick from a penalty corner making it 4-2 with little time left on the clock.
Town finished feeling disappointed, but looking forward there was many positive moments to which to build upon in next week’s home game against Burton 1st XI.
