LTHC Men’s 1st XI 2 at University of Birmingham Men’s 1st XI 6

MRHA T1 – Midlands Premier

Saturday 26th October 2019

The Men’s 1st XI travelled to Birmingham to take on league leaders University of Birmingham 2nd XI.  Quick. To say the warm up was quick is an understatement. Apparently the National League takes priority over the mighty Town but some may disagree.

The game started with quick end to end action with Birmingham scoring quickly from a short corner. However the Town quickly replied, levelling the score through Sam Curd. 1-1 quickly became 2-2 with Richard Watson scoring for Town in what seemed pretty close game. However, Birmingham took the lead just before half time.

The second half started quickly and was pretty evenly matched with chances down either end for each side.  For 15 minutes Town lost their heads and 3-2 quickly became 4-2, 5-2 and then 6-2. After the 6th goal conceded, Town quickly switched back on and played half out with much more composer, with the game becoming more even again. Neither side added to their goal totals and the game ended 6-2 to Birmingham, which whilst the score line flattered the hosts, they were deserved winners due their high intensity throughout the game.

Man of the Match – Lewis Ratcliff

Next week Town play at home to Warwick University 1st XI, who have the same record, so will be a tough game.
