LTHC Men’s 2nd XI 1 at Streetly Men’s 1st XI 3

MRHA T1 – Midlands 2

Saturday 2nd November 2019

Town 2nd XI travelled to Streetly looking to build on the excellent performance the week before. With news of a potentially cancelled game delaying Town’s arrival, preparations were hampered by late arrival to the ground. Thankfully the pitch was playable (just) and the game got underway.

Both sides created some early chances with Megicks and Lamb winning several short corners. Unfortunately Megicks could only find row Z when presented with the best opportunity Town fashioned.

Streetly’s direct style and running created problems for Town and Town conceded off a penalty corner. One quickly became two after another good penalty corner routine. Town entered halftime 2-0 down but by no means out of the game.

Looking for a repeat of the second half versus Burton, Town went out and pushed with Hatley, Parry and Gutteridge all creating chances.

However an injury to centre back Chiswell lead to veteran “forward” Guest having to line up at the back. Despite his efforts Streetly counter attacked and made it 3-0.

Town continued to push forward and seeing Guest swap positions inspired another veteran Ottewell to give a new position a go. After Parry failed to connect with a shot, he regained the ball and fired across to find new centre forward Ottewell there to casually finish for 3-1.

Maybe the role reversal of the two veterans can see both gain some more yardage out of their ailing careers! The game finished shortly after with a disappointed Town looking to bounce back at home to Chesterfield next week.
