LTHC Men’s 2nd XI 0 vs Chesterfield Men’s 1st XI 5
MRHA T1 – Midlands 2
Saturday 9th November 2019
Loughborough Town 2nd XI hosted Chesterfield 1st XI looking to bounce back after a tough away loss.
Town controlled the early phases of the game well with the majority of possession, David Ottewell and Lawry Bayne coping well with the opposition counters. Early chances for Town however failed to be converted, and despite calls for a stroke following a rash foul on Barney Megicks, Town were unable to pull clear. Sloppy play from Town late in the first half allowed Chesterfield to break the deadlock after a well worked counter attack.
A poor start to the second half cost Town as they quickly conceded a penalty stroke, which rolled over the line as Vishal Dhutia dived the wrong way. After this Town struggled to maintain the tempo and get out of their half and despite flashes of energy from George Gutteridge and Ollie Jephcott on the counter, Town couldn’t break through.
Town couldn’t contain their frustration as cards for Jack Chiswell and then Adam Lamb left Town down to ten players for long periods of the second half. Conceding one more, Town then had the opportunity to pull one back from the penalty spot though a trademark Guest flick was saved by the head of the keeper. Chesterfield would then break once more to seal a very disappointing 5-0 loss for Town on home soil.
Town look to bounce back with an away trip to second placed Olton & West Warwick next weekend.
