LTHC Men’s 4th XI 5 vs Leicester Westleigh Men’s 2nd XI 3

MRHA T3 – South East 1

Saturday 23rd November 2019

After last week’s successful trip to Atherstone, which saw Town come out worthy 2-1 winners against very strong opposition, a potential banana skin against a bottom three team in the form of long time rivals Leicester Westleigh presented itself.

Town began the game in confident mood, moving the ball quickly around the pitch.  Despite their dominance the opening goal evaded them & it was Westleigh that opened the scoring following a scrappy breakaway.

Loughborough remained composed and didn’t panic, a sign of the growing maturity of this side. They simply restarted the game and pressed the opposition back into their own half again, confident that it was just a matter of time before they would be back on level terms.

As they entered the last 10 minutes of the half Town’s pressure was rewarded as Andy Hargreaves grabbed a quick fire brace to make it 2-1 in Loughborough’s favour.

The second half saw Loughborough play some scintillating hockey and it was no surprise when Hargreaves drag flicked into the roof of the net for his hat trick. Hargreaves then grabbed his & the teams fourth smashing the ball home from just inside the ‘D’.

Town weren’t quite finished and Omar McKenna popped up to register Town’s 5th goal of the match.

With the game over as a contest Town’s concentration slipped allowing Westleigh to grab an unlikely 2nd.

Town take to the road next week visiting Hamden In Arden for what will be yet another test for them.
