LTHC Men’s 1st XI 3 vs Boots Men’s 1st XI 2

MRHA T1 – Midlands Premier

Saturday 30th November 2019

In the only game in the division to go ahead due to the weather, Loughborough Town Men’s 1st XI hosted Boots Men’s 1st XI on an incredibly cold and foggy day.

Town had a dream start and we’re up 2-0 inside ten minutes, both goals from Ethan Hoddle. The first, an expertly topped shot so it just bounced over the keepers stick into the far corner. The second, a rebound after Boots’ keeper only just managed to save a rocket of a drag flick from Sam Curd. Hoodle hammered the rebound wide from three yards out but the ball found the unfortunate shin of a Boots defender which diverted it into the far corner of the goal.

Town then stepped off the gas and conceded two goals to find themselves going in at half time all square at 2-2.

A rousing team talk from Paul Willars and Nick Morris led to Town stepping back on the gas at the start of the second half.

A short corner was won in the first 30 seconds and Ian Johnston powered his flick past the keeper to make it 3-2. This would be the final score due to a relatively unremarkable second half.

The win moves Town up to second place in the table, who travel to Bournville next week looking to pick up 3 wins on the trot for the first time in a while.
