LTHC Men’s 1st XI 3 at Bournville Men’s 1st XI 2
MRHA T1 – Midlands Premier
Saturday 7th December 2019
Loughborough Town Men’s 1st XI travelled to Bournville for the last fixture before the Christmas break. Loughborough started brightly, however a well taken Bournville short corner and a defensive turnover leading to a shot from the baseline which Jackson let in to give the Birmingham side an early 2-0 lead.
Loughborough then stepped up the intensity of their play with Hoddle, France and Ratcliffe getting on the ball. It was Ratclife who got a goal back for Town just before the half time break.
As with last week, Willars stirring half time team talk fired the boys up and Town started the second half on fire. Johnson scored a well taken drag flick and Lewis buried a flying tomahawk. Loughborough continued to make chances with opportunities for Capel, Hoddle, Harrison and Curd, all well saved by the Bournville keeper.
In a rare second half attack, Morris illegally halted the progress of the Bournville forward in the penalty circle with extreme force. Fortunately Jackson saved the resulting corner.
A great win for Town setting up an exciting second half of the season for the Leicestershire club.
