LTHC Men’s 1st XI 2 vs Beeston Men’s 2nd XI 7

MRHA T1 – Midlands Premier

Saturday 11th January 2020

Loughborough Town 1st XI resumed their hockey season after Christmas with a fixture against title challenging Beeston 2nd XI.

It would not be Town’s finest performance though. Several individual mistakes meant Town found themselves 3-0 in 20 minutes to start the game. Town steadied the ship till half time where they could try and regroup. This would not really be the case though as Beeston found a fourth to start the second half.

A slight Town revival was hinted at when Andrew Capel bulldozed he way through the Beeston goalkeeper for a tap in. However in attempting to score more goals Town left themselves exposed at the back and Beeston scored three late goals.

The lowlight for Town came when goalie and ‘man of the match’ Toby Jackson went to leave a cross and watch it off the back line only for it to rebound off the post to a Beeston attacker for the simplest of goals.

Town pulled another goal back with a Mike White hit from a short corner routine, meaning the match finished 7-2.

Town sit fourth in the league at the halfway stage now which should be considered a massive success as they’ve already got more points than they managed in the entire of last season.
