LTHC Men’s 3rd XI 2 at Northampton Saints Men’s 2nd XI 11

MRHA T2 – East Midlands 1

Saturday 16th February 2020

Travelling all the way down to Northampton the Men’s 3rd XI were looking to end their six losing streak, and put some points back onto the table to lift them away from the relegation places. The home fixture Town won 3-1, so they were hoping to get another win.

Town’s start wasn’t the best as they went down two goals early, which put them on the back foot. Starting to settle more into the game Town did manage to keep possession of the ball though not until the final ten minutes of the half did they have any meaningful attacks.

Down 3-0 at half-time wasn’t ideal, but Town were far from out of it.  However, again it wasn’t to be as Saints continued to pressure Town on the ball forcing them into basic errors which they converted into 8 more goals.  Town did manage to get on the scoresheet with Brealey and Crocket scoring.  Crocker’s goal was Town’s highlight of the game as he cannoned a reverse stick shot high into the net from near the left by line.

Another game, another loss, as Town lose their 7th game in a row, which now put them third from bottom. As next week’s game becomes even more important as they play Nottingham 1st XI with a win vital.
