LTHC Men’s 1st XI 4 vs Loughborough Students Men’s 1st XI 1

MRHA T1 – Midlands Premier

Saturday 22nd February 2020

Loughborough Town 1st XI played Loughborough Students 2nd XI who sat two places below them at the beginning of the day. Town were looking for a win to continue their fine form since the mid-season break, and also looking for payback from a loss to the Students in the away fixture.

Town scored early with a great counter attack set up by man of the match Vincent and slotted home off the post by white. This was perhaps the defining moment of the game. After this point the Students struggled to break through Town’s strong defence. Forward Harrison typified the work rate of the team finding himself in his own D and being hit in the head by a shot which was going wildly wide.

Town stretched the lead after half time with two well taken short corners from Johnstone. Vincent made it four powering in a rebound. Students kept going till the end and were rewarded with scoring a goal, a rebound from a late short corner.

A great and well deserved win which keeps Loughborough Town in third place in the table, and extends the win streak to four and unbeaten streak to six games. Next week Town have a bye week, though the week they resume their campaign at home when they play current fourth placed side Barton 1st XI.
