LTHC Men’s 1st XI 2 vs Barton Men’s 1st XI 4

MRHA T1 – Midlands Premier

Saturday 7th March 2020

After a week off the Men’s 1st XI went into a tough game against 6th placed Barton 1st XI, without Captain Nick Morris.

The game started well with Town going 1-0 up early on through a good reverse hit from Lewis Ratcliff, completely beating the surprised keeper. Town then conceded a couple of goals. Firstly a slip from a Town defender resulting in Barton drawing level. Then midway through the first half the away side took the lead to make it 2-1, as Town’s tracking back let them down. Luckily, late on in the first half the ball hit a Barton defender on the line leading to a penalty flick which was slotted home by Ian Johnstone. Half time and 2-2.

The second half was similar to the first with poor hockey from both sides. Unfortunately Barton managed to score two late goals in the last ten minutes to which Town sadly had no reply.

The game ended 4-2 with Barton taking home the three points. A match to forget for Town, as they look forward to next week’s game away to bottom half table side Boots 1st XI.
